This post will be focused on my last experience in my job. First of all I have to say I have been very lucky about people I found in my office.Maybe there were not very young, about in theirs 40ies or 50ies but they were anyway such interesting people. I met the fantozzi prototype, the no-more-womeninmylife one, the saured engineer one, the sharp guy without responsabilities and etc…all peole in my office were interesting subjects and even their academic path was absolutely different from mine( or better null), I was interested on talking with them, and listening from their lived experience. It’s so interesting to see how people of that age when they talk with a guy , they try to tell a story or give him some good advices; if you talk with a guy of your age it could agree or not with you, but in the end he doesn’t have experiences on that, it has only an opinion.A man on his 50 has instead an experience, that overall has more weight. So, during the numberless breaks we have a lot of opportunities in sharing our ideas.
One thing I realized is that, as a matter of fact, things, good or bad, doesn’t happen only for a destiny but are the results of your daily choice. With this I don’t mean future is predictable or maybe you own your destiny, but that you must be very carefull and sharp in your decision process because it gives you the chance to modify your path. This could not be built for the future but only backwards. Someone told me that he has the chance to be an entrepreneur , but on the other hands he always was interested firstly on enjoying his spare time and so he lost the chance.Somebody married the first woman he was with because he was worried of the growing age,and now he ate her and consider her a devil, somebody else has never accept other person weak point, and now on his 50 she is alone and sad…and so on.
Talking about this I remember a movie where the protagonist say continuosly” whatever it works” and I think probably he is right, there is not an “optimus situation” or best choice but you have to choose the option who will work better in the long run, whatever is your problem or context.
Furthermore one thing I realize is that working on a multinational with a small job, small activities is a way for hyding yourself.dont’ tell me you work for money(1000 Broken Euros are not money damnit folks!!) or for passion for the job (no one has it there, I’m sure); you work there because it’s a good comfort zone, where nothing seems to bother you or jeopardize you life, nor your wife or your banks or you friends,a perfect place where hyde yourself.Yes because in the end you hyde you personalities there, your potential, your capabilities, your limit as well..It’ s like sleeping o being in a bunker! So I was wondering if it is right ot not to stay there, and my answer is that when you arrive at the end and ask you what did you create, you could be” a little” disappointed… Like Steve LAvori said " I was wondering if it was my last day if I was doing right?...
Cheers
